Outside hitter William “Reid” Priddy was born Oct. 1, 1977 in Richmond, Va. He grew up in Florida and Arizona and now lives in Southern California. He will serve as the United States’ team captain for the 2010 FIVB World League.
Priddy (196cm, 89kg) joined the U.S. National Team for the 1999 Pan American Games. He was the starting outside hitter on the team that finished fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He was also the starting outside hitter on the teams that won the 2008 Olympic Games and the 2008 FIVB World League. He was named the USA Volleyball Male Indoor Player of the Year in 2008.
Priddy took most of 2009 off from indoor competition, although he returned for the NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship, where the U.S. placed second. He has also played beach volleyball on the U.S. domestic tour.
Priddy played college volleyball for Loyola Marymount. He married Lindsay Pierce in March 2007. Priddy has played internationally in Greece and Russia. Most recently, he played for Lokomotiv Novosibirsk during the winter of 2009-10.
