Saleh Fathy is the new captain of the Egyptian team. This spiker is 28 years old and started Volleyball when he was 9 in the Egyptian club of Tersana. When he was 17 he moved to the famous club of Al-Ahly (in 1999) where he stayed only a few months before signing to their Arch Rivals, Zamalek, ithe same year. He won two African Youth Championships. With the Senior team he participated in the African Nations Championship 2003 in Cairo, where he got the second place before clinching the gold medal in All Africa Games in Nigeria, in October 2003. With Zamalek he won the league and the cup titles, before also addind the African cup of clubs  championship title in 2008 and 2009.

With the men's national team he participated in several international competitions: 
Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
FIVB World League in 2008,2007 and 2006.
Qualification to WCH Japan in 2006.
Qualification to WGCC Japan 2005, ranking fifth.
Mediterranean Games in Spain in 2005, winning a g
old medal.
United Islamic Championship in Saudi Arabia in 2005, finishing second.
All Arab Games in Algeria in 2004, obtaining the title.
