He is currently one of the best setters in Africa. He won three individual prizes in the last African Nations Championship as he was awarded best setter, best server and best digger. He started playing with the Al-Ahly club in all the youth categories when he was 10 years old. Seven years later he was chosen to be part of the U19 national team who achieved an historic fourth position in 2001 FIVB Boys' U-19 World Championship taking place in Egypt. Two years later he represented his country in the 2003 FIVB U-21 World Championship in Iran before starting playing with the Senior team in 2004. He was one of the most brilliant players in the team clinching the gold medal at both 2005 Mediterranean Games and 2005 African Nations Championship. He was awarded best server of the 2005 World Grand Championship. From this moment, Ahmed Abdalla professionally played with Italian clubs. Then he returned back home and joined his old team of Al-Ahly. This season they won the African championship and the Arab Championship in addition to two titles in local competitions.

FIVB World League in 2008, 2007 and 2006.
Qualification to WCH Japan in 2006.
Qualification to WGCC Japan in 2005, coming back home with a fifth place.
Mediterranean Games in Spain in 2005, clinching the gold medal.
United Islamic Championship in Saudi Arabia in 2005, finishing second.
All Arab Games in Algeriain 2004, winning the title.
