In 2000, he got a second place at the Junior South American Championship. In the next year, Murilo became Junior World Champion. He was part of the team that won the FIVB World League in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2005, he won a gold medal in the FIVB World Grand Champions. In 2006, he was World Champion in Japan. In 2007, he won the Pan-American Games, the FIVB World League, the FIVB World Cup, the South American Championship, and finished second at the America’s Cup, in Manaus, where he was the captain of the youth Brazilian team. In 2008, Murilo won his first Olympic medal, the silver at the Beijing Games, and finished second in the America’s Cup. In the following, season, Murilo turned to be an important player in Brazil’s winning campaigns in the FIVB World League, the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and the South American Championship. He currently plays for SESI-SP.
