Berruto: This is a big step for Finland

Mikko Oivanen spiked very well in the match.

Finnish Head coach Mauro Berruto:"This is a big step for us and it is a consequence of the work and growing process in the team. This is big gift to the team and to me of course. This gives us gasoline to continue our work. Thanks to all players, staff and over 6000 spectators. I am satisfied with every player today. We had a wonderful fighting spirit from the first ball to the last. We had all the time the same attitude. It is not normal to any team in the world to win Brazil. Now we must think about the next 4 matches against Poland, because we have now good possibilities to take the second place in the pool."

Finnish Captain Mikko Esko:"I am very happy. We were fighting all the time even after the loss of the two first sets. This was 12th time against Brazil and finally we won. The spectators were really great today. To hit the last ball of the match felt really good. Half of the point goes to Olli-Pekka Ojansivu who hit the hard jump serve in the match ball."

Brazilian Head coach Bernardo Rezende:"Finland played very well in service, side out, blocking and defense. Today they found their own play which I was waiting already yesterday. Our attitude was not as good as it should be, but we fought from the beginning to the end and not let it go. Finland is a good team and they can beat any team in the world."

Brazilian Captain Giba:"After second set Finland started to play very well. They had very hard service, which is of course a good thing in modern volleyball. Also their side out was heavy and number 13 (Mikko Oivanen) spiked very well. Finland played three very good sets."
