Coaches: First set decided the game

Russian head coach Daniele Bagnoli wants his players to learn from the defeat

Russian head coach Daniele Bagnoli: "The first set was very important. We should have won it but we lost it because of the banal mistakes and inspired our opponent. I think the first half of the game we played better but then the situation changed. From the third set Bulgaria took control of the game  and deserved the victory. Bulgaria surprised me with their good job at the reception.  Substitution Metodi Ananiev was the one who made the difference."

Russian captain Sergey Tetyukhin: "I am very upset with the result of the match. I didn’t like the way we played. We were not in the right mood as a team and individually."

Bulgarian head coach Silvano Prandi: "I want to complement my team for winning this match which gives us a chance to get to the Final Round. I agree with Daniele Bagnoli who said that the first set was very important. Since we won it we gained a lot of confidence in ourselves. This game turned to be quite easy for us mentally as long as we didn’t have any pressure."

Bulgarian captain Andrey Zhekov:  "I am very happy to beat one of the strongest teams in the world. I think our block was the key to the success.  It was difficult to play in front of such a huge crowd which were cheering for our opponent."
