Silvano Prandi: 'Slight dose of emotion' led to victory

Silvano Prandi, coach of Bulgaria: "I agree that today the most important thing for us was to win. We did not present our best, but we improved our play during the match. We started poorly in the first two sets, but then we injected a slight dose of emotion and we won. I hope in the future we will make a better performance. Today two players have to be credited - Vladimir Nikolov with his power attack and Krasimir Gaydarski who was good on attack and in blocking. It was great emotion to meet this crowd for the first time. People in Varna are spectacular."

Andrey Zhekov, captain of Bulgaria: "The most important thing for us today was the victory. We started out nervously, we made mistakes and let Japan play their match. However, I am happy with the victory. It was of great importance."

Tatsuya Ueta, coach of Japan: "My team did not play very well today, although middle blockers Matsuta and Tomimatsu were our best players. These matches are a check for our players. I expected more from Shimizu who played at 40-50 percent of his ability."

Daisuke Usami, captain of Japan: "It was a good match for us and we missed an opportunity. I hope tomorrow we perform better."
