Anastasi sees tougher tests ahead, while Zhou admits China and Italy are on different levels

The Italians got off to a good start in Verona

Verona, Italy, June 12 - Italy was in a buoyant mood while China licked its wounds Friday following the hosts' comprehensive 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-16) win on Opening Day of the 2009 World League tournament.

Quotes from the coaches and team captains follow:

Andrea Anastasi (Italy coach): "The first match is always a very difficult one. We prepared well, remembering our 3-2 record from last year. Our pool is a very difficult one. The last word will be pronounced in the very last matches."

Matej Cernic (Italy captain): "We made the perfect match without mistakes. But we have yet to see the real quality of Team China. We want to remain with our feet on the ground."

Zhou Jianan (China coach): "Tonight we discovered two very different levels: the Chinese one and the Italian one, which was very effective. We hope to have a better day tomorrow."

Shen Qiong (China captain): "It was a good match. My compliments to Italy, who showed all the quality that Volleyball can offer."
