Korea wins at home to open 2009 FIVB World League

Korean players were in high spirits on Saturday

Suwon, South Korea, June 13, 2009 - Korea beat Argentina 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 34-36, 25-16, 15-13) in the first match of the 2009 FIVB World League at Suwon Indoor Gym on Saturday.

In the first set, Korea opened with strong serves to take the lead but was unable to hold onto it as Argentina's blockers stepped up their game.

In the second set, Korean libero Yeo Oh-Hyun's perfect defense and wing spiker Moon Sung-Min's tough spikes propelled the hosts. Team Korea substituted its setter with Han Sun-Soo at 17-20, and won the second set on the strong spikes of Shin Yung-Suk and Kim Hak-Min.

In a fierce and tough third set, the two teams' endurance and power of concentration were outstanding.

Korea played with great spirit in the fourth and fifth sets. Han Sun-Soo's constructive setting and Shin Yung-Suk's quick attacks paralyzed Argentine's defense, as the hosts took the final two frames to secure the win.
