Japan humiliates host Bulgaria

Japan's defense was practically impenetrable against Bulgaria on Sunday
Varna, Bulgaria, June 21, 2009 - Bulgaria was humiliated at home by Japan on Sunday, losing their second match of the 2009 World League tournament 1-3 (16-25, 25-14, 24-26, 21-25).
The guests put in a brilliant performance and proved that the Bulgarians will be made to pay for underestimating any opponent at the elite competition. The loss was a major disappointment to the 3,500 attendance.
Poor performance in the first match with Japan on Saturday resulted in the support but nobody could not explain what happend on the court with Bulgaria. Childish mistakes and non-standard playes in standard situations brought the 4th team in the World to look strange in front of its own audience.
On the other side Japan was strongly willing to win and did it. First set was a warning for Bulgaria. Kunihiro Shimizu was running as Pasific hurricane through Bulgarian block. Well supported by the diggers which dug almost every ball in their half of the court and with Fukuzawa pushing it harder, Shimizu lead the Asians. A spark by Europe's best player Matey Kaziyski brought back Bulgaria in the second set but it was only a shooting star for them. Shimizu was gaining power set after set and gave more and more confidence in the victory for his team mates. Silvano Prandi tryed everything to pull up the self-esteam of his players but with now result. Bulgaria was lost and with no weapons to preveal surrendering, leaving only high hopes for next matches to return in the usual shape.
