Knipe wants Team USA to bring steady energy to match

Andy Hein (8) of the United States tries to hit the ball past Italy's Andrea Sala (17).

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (July 10, 2009) –  U.S. head coach Alan Knipe saw many things that could be improved on when his team faces Italy in a second FIVB World League second match on Saturday, July 11, at the Sears Centre Arena.

Knipe wanted to see his team improve its serving and passing and also stay on a more even keel.

“I would like to see us bring a more consistent energy level to the match instead of so many peaks and valleys,” he said. “We have to step up to the challenge. We have to be better tomorrow night.”

In all four sets of Friday’s match, Team USA fell behind and had to play catch-up.

Italian coach Andrea Anastasi wanted his team to bring the same level of intensity to Saturday’s match that it brought to Friday’s.

“The most important thing for us is to see the team play hard,” he said.
