With several changes in its lineup, Venezuela will welcome Brazil this weekend to the Poliedro de Caracas for the first two of their final four Intercontinental Round games. Brazil will host Venezuela on July 18 and 19 in the city of Belo Horizonte to wrap up the first round of play.
Venezuela went winless on its road trip to Finland and Poland and has subsequently lost any chance of advancing to the Final Round in Belgrade. Venezuela did show, however, that it has the talent to be present at the World League and make things difficult on any opponent.
Having already been eliminated, Venezuela coach Alexander Gutiérrez will give some young players the opportunity to play. He also plans to make changes in the defense and in that sense he will unleash a new libero, who will be announced shortly.
The adjustments are part of a broader plan to improve the team ahead of its August 10-12 qualifying campaign on home soil for the Men's FIVB World Championship, to be held in Italy next year.
Brazil, meanwhile, will visit the Poliedro after suffering its first defeat in eight games in the Intercontinental Round of the 20th edition of the FIVB World League. Last Saturday, in Tampere, Finalnd, it lost 3-2 to the host team.
