A week after a clear defeat against China in the second match of the opening series, the Italian team faces Olympic Champion the United States in Florence and Catania.
The first match will be played at the Mandela Forum Friday night at 7:30 p.m. (local time). The following day, both teams will move to Catania, Sicily to battle again at the PalaCatania.
Italian coach Andrea Anastasi said he has asked his team, and in particular two recent appointments, to play up to their potential after suffering from a lack of concentration in their second match against China last saturday in Verona. The United States is also hoping to find another gear after dropping their opening match to the Netherlands last weekend.
Despite the defeat to China, Anastasi says he will continue with the same lineup: Giacomo Sintini and Dragan Travica as setters, Mauro Gavotto and Michal Lasko, Emanuele Birarelli, Francesco Fortunato, Marco Piscopo and Sala with Matej Cernic, Matteo Martino, Simone Parodi and Cristian Savani as spikers. The liberos will be Bari and Loris Manià.
