Caracas, Venezuela, June 13, 2009 – Finland heads into Sunday's match against Venezuela looking to obtain its first victory at the 2009 World League tournament, having lost in straight sets to the hosts on opening day.

The young Nordic team will look to make all the necessary adjustments, especially in their service game, to beat their South America rivals at the Poliedro de Caracas, which housed 6,900 spectators in Game 1.

Venezuela was a model of composure in the first match, winning each set despite the fact that its players are not in tiptop physical condition.

Although not an unexpected result, the win was very pleasing to the Venezuelans, who did not have a lot of time to prepare for the tournament and are under the guidance of new head coach Alexander Gutierrez, who took over just a month ago.

The 3-0 win was nevertheless a hotly contested one, and the same is expected for the second match.

The two men responsible for leading their attacks on Saturday — Luis Diaz scored 16 points for Venezuela, while Mikko Oivanen bagged 15 for Finland — are expected to do the same Sunday.

The win was the 14^th in 61 attempts by Venezuela in World League competition. Venezuela played in the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2008 editions of the World League, and has face 12 nations so far.
