I am very satisfied with this victory, says French Coach Philippe Blain

Press Conference Report

Serbian Head coach Igor Kolakovic: I would like to congratulate the French team before all, who played a high quality volleyball. We started easily but we lost confidence and concentrations on rally, whereas France had a great defence. Our team seemed exhausted, without envy, especially at spiking.

Serbian Captain Nikola Grbic: The French team deserves this victory. I don’t understand why we lost our strength after the first set, set that we won easily. France was particularly good at defence and in other areas of the game. But the real problem is that we stopped playing, we did not manage to impose our way of playing. What we have to do now is focus on the game, on what we have to do, and not on the opponents.

French Head coach Philippe Blain: I am very satisfied about this victory, because we had a really bad week, with lots of diseases and injuries. That may be why we did not start well. The players did not know if they were able to play and win against this very good Serbian team. But we understood that never doubting is the key to success, that we have to play volleyball with our qualities. And we fought well. I am glad for Marien Moreau, who trained a lot and succeeded in his area. Pujol took the lead, and did a great job. Gérald Hardy-Dessources made a good come back too.

French Captain Gerard Hardy-Dessources: We started the game in a very strange way, we did not play well in the first set, and we logically lost it. But I am proud of the team and of what we did, we managed to get back on tracks and we played with all the pugnacity we could, particularly in defence. I am proud and satisfied of our reaction. But tomorrow is another game, and it a new start again.
