Bernardo Rezende keeping a close eye on the action

Russia's captain Konstantin Ushakov: "This was not an important game, but it was still a good warm-up for us. We needed to check each other out."

Russia's head coach Zoran Gajic: "It's difficult to comment on the match because it wasn't crucial. The main game will be tomorrow, but today there seemed to be more Brazilian players who wanted the victory."

Brazil's captain Ricardo Garcia: "We started out waiting for Russia to make mistakes but they came out strong. It was good to get into the rhythm, but now we have to prepare for tomorrow."

Brazil's head coach Bernardo Rezende: "It was a tough match, though the victory essentially means nothing. It was good to see the speed of Russia's game and the power of their attacks. It was a small taste of what we will see tomorrow."
