Russia has to fight for a podium place

Ivanov setting his team up for a place in the bronze medal match
Final Rounds host Russia will today face Bulgaria in a battle to secure its ninth podium place in fifteen appearances in the 2006 World League. After losing its first match of the Final Rounds to France in yesterday's first semi-final, Bulgaria will also be eager to win the bronze medal match to take its first-ever podium place in the tournament. The team's best finish to date has been fourth in 1994 and 2004.

Bulgaria's head coach Martin Stoev remained confident at yesterday's press conference ahead of today's match against the team with the home crowd behind them. "I think we'll have a good result," he said.
