Brazil battle against the hosts in final pool play match

Russia's Sergey Tetyukhin

Moscow, 25th August 2006 - In today's top billing, Russia takes on Brazil in the final pool-play match. The pressure is off Zoran Gjaic's team after they clinched victory in a thrilling five-setter over France yesterday. After Brazil improved their game yesterday, the match will undoubtedly be hard-fought as Bernardo Rezende's men aim to consolidate their position and secure their place in the final four.

Brazil's captain Ricardo Garcia kept his side together yesterday and helped them on to victory with some precision setting, which saw him move into second place behind Bulgaria's Andrey Zhekov as the tournaments best setter. He also stressed that his team's serving improved a lot in the second match, with Andre Nascimento firing three aces in the match. This will certainly be an asset against Russia.
