Serbia and Montenegro need a win against France

France's libero Jean-Francois Exiga was instrumental in his team's defence against Russia

Moscow, 25th August 2006 - Like wild card Italy, Serbia and Montenegro need a win today to avoid an early exit from this year's World League finals. Ljubomir Travica's side are winless after matches against the strong teams of Russia and Bulgaria and have yet to take a set in the tournament.

At yesterday's press conference, Travica was already looking ahead to training for the World Championships (which he will start in one month with the full team), suggesting he judged his team's chances against France to be slim.

France's head coach Philippe Blain, on the other hand, was very positive despite a narrow loss against Russia. He said he loved his team because they had played with all their hearts. A similar performance today, from its strong attack backed by a solid defence (libero Jean-Francois Exiga's acrobatics yesterday earned him 21 non-scoring points to place second as best digger overall), will see France enter the final four.
