France prepare to host on fire Cuba
June
10, 2005 – France’s match against Cuba in this
week’s third round of the 2005 World League
Intercontinental Round is arguably the match of
the round in Pool B with victory imperative for
both sides.
The young and exuberant Cuban team have their
tails up with three wins and one solitary defeat
after two rounds, while France are desperate to
record at least one victory this weekend to keep
them in touch with the pool leaders.

Cuba have been in red hot form so far in the
World League
Last week’s sharing of their two matches at home
against Bulgaria was a little disappointing for
the Tri colours in that it handed the Eastern
Europeans their first win of the tournament. But
with Hubert Henno, arguably one of the best
liberos in the world, making his return and new
captain Stéphane Antiga starting to blossom in
the role, France will fancy their chances
against their Central American opponents.
With the winner of the pool advancing through to
the final round, a 2-0 score line to either side
would be a great fillip with only three more
rounds remaining after this weekend.
