World League 2005 News
Cuba to prepare in three countries
Havana,
Cuba, April 3, 2005 - The Cuban male Volleyball
team, officially named on Thursday, will make a
training tour of Russia, Argentina and Greece
before it enters the 2005 World League.
An 18-player training selection, from which 12
players will be chosen to play the World League,
will depart for Russia on April 16, where they
will train until April 30.
The team will then fly to Argentina to train
there from May 9-17, and from there to Greece,
its last training stage before its
intercontinental matches in Group B of the World
League.
The Cubans will play Bulgaria (May 27-29), Italy
(June 3-5) and France (June 10-12) and will
return to Havana to receive these teams in home
games.
The team is headed by central and captain Pavel
Pimienta (2.04 m) and attacker Tomas Aldazabal
(1.93 m).
