More injury concerns for Greece
Athens,
Greece, May 31, 2005 – Having started the 2005
World League with an injury cloud hanging over
captain Marios Gkiourdas, Greece have been hit
by two more injury concerns with Chrysanthos
Kyriazis (Achilles tendon) and Vasileios
Kournetas (leg) both missing training on
Tuesday.
Greece got off to a superb start in Pool C
despite their injury worries, beating last
year’s bronze medalists Serbia and Montenegro
3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-21) and 3-1 (23-25, 25-22,
25-16, 25-19) at the Peace and Friendship
stadium in Athens.

best start in the World League in 2003 when they
won their first three matches
Now coach Kostas Charitonidis has to get his
side up for another tough assignment this
weekend, away to Poland.
Despite not training, both Kyriazis and
Kournetas are expected to travel with the Greek
side for the two second round fixtures in Lodz
where the first match starts on Friday at 19:00
(local time). |
