Sérgio
has been one of the best liberos in world volleyball
since making his international debut two years ago and
his performances throughout the 2003 World League
illustrated that his form continues to blossom.
Superbly
quick and agile he plays the game with so much
enthusiasm and passion it can be quite draining just
watching him from the other side of the net.
Always
one to lead the Brazilians celebrations Sérgio is one
of the key pieces in the World League and World
Championship titleholders jigsaw following his awesome
performance son court. The 2001 World League Best
Receiver and 2002 World League Best Digger took a slight
dip in form at last year's World Championships, where he
"only" finished third and fourth in the best
receiver and digger stakes.
But the
28-year-old proved that he's back to his best with a
superb average of 1.55 digs per match in the finals and
a success rate of over 70% when receiving.
