Pasquale Gravina

The 32-year-old Italian veteran has achieved all in international Volleyball one can ever dream of.

Following his debut in the blue jersey in 1990 against Brazil, his international career has not only witnessed, but was an instrumental part of what was the invincible Italian squad that dominated the world of Volleyball in the 1990's.

Among other trophies, the middle blocker has seen such victories as the World Championship twice, in 1994 and 1998, and the European Championship three times in 1993, 1995 and 1999. He has also been apart of the Italian side, the most successful team in the history of the World League, which claimed the title in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 2000. Throw in the 1995 World Cup title and his trophy cabinet is purely golden.

Gravina's club career is further proof of the caliber of the player. Starting in the top Italian A1 league in 1988, he has gained major domestic trophies, including the "Scudetti" five times and the Italian Cup four times, in a record other players envy. He has played for his current club, Lube Banca Marche Macerata, since 2001, winning the Italian Cup as recently as February and prior to that move he had previously played for Sisley Treviso, Cariparma, Maxicono Parma, El Charro Falconara and Odeon Falconara in a celebrated career.

Despite being the second oldest in the Italian side and having already played 298 matches the 201cm Gravina still isn't content and is ready again to lead Italy through another season culminating with the 2003 World Cup in Japan.
