Reinder Nummerdor

The pin up boy of Dutch volleyball Reinder Nummerdor is the life and soul of the national men's volleyball team at the moment.

As skipper of the team Nummerdor is a proven leader, with his inspirational on court play and dynamic team-orientated spirit. He plays such a dominant role in this Netherlands team that it has been quoted in local media that, "if Nummerdor isn't playing the Netherlands will lose".

A horrible theory for Dutch fans and one that might prove right with the news that the 26-year-old from Ijsselmuiden is to have his injured right shoulder examined on May 19 to determine whether or not he requires surgery. Any such operation will rule him out of the World League and therefore signal doom and gloom on any World League finals prospects that any Dutch fan cradled.

Nummerdor's Italian club - Milan - have already indicated they would like to see him undergo the knife and the wing-spiker has said "if the doctors in the Netherlands advise me to undergo surgery I will do this to save my volleyball career."

So for the moment all eyes are on the Nummerdor camp to see what his next move is and after 249 caps for Holland, his next move could be one of the most decisive ever.
