Poland exacts revenge on visitng Spain
The Poles kept their chances for the World League Finals alive on Friday when, inspired by< almost 10,000 supporters, they downed Spain 3-1 in the city of Lodz. Poland took the first set deploying a solid defense but Spain, who came to Poland without key player Rafael Pascual, came back from 21:14 to take the lead 25:24. The home team survived and eventually struck back after a very spectacular ending to the set. Spain however denied Poland a straight-set victory, taking the third set with relative comfort but Poland rallied and returned to exact their first victory over the Iberian team in the 2003 World League.

Then the saw their potential victory slip when they went down in the tiebreaker 13-15. But Greece triumphed in the tiebreaker on Friday to se the stage for a challenging and vital rematch on Sunday in Dijon that could decide if the World Championship bronze medalists qualify for the final eight in Madrid.
