Brazil beat Bulgaria after weak start
World champions Brazil opened their World League Finals account with a superb
come-from-behind 3-1 victory in the second match of the World League Finals.
The match started out as though it was going to deliver the first upset of the
competition with Bulgaria racing to a first set win with the "tower"
of the league, the Bulgarian Ivanov, with his 210cm frame, playing a key role in
Bulgaria's early dominance, along with his captain Nikolay Ivanov.
But the experience of the Brazilians soon told with Giba and Nalbert restoring
order with some excellent play and leading Brazil to a second set win.
The first set (19-25) showed the aggressive play of the Bulgarian team, but,
their service errors and the slightest bad luck made the Brazilians the absolute
owners of the game in the second and third sets 25-20, 25-18 before they ran
riot in the fourth and final set, demolishing Bulgaria 25-11.
