Again a close match with a lucky winner
Spain defeated Poland 3-2 (18-25, 27-25, 24-26, 25-23 and 15-11) in the second game of week 2 in a match played in Castellón. Spaniards suffered once again to beat polish but confidence of local players gave Spain the victory in a disputed game that showed the similar level of playing of both teams.
Poland soon took the lead of the game. With powerful attacking actions and with effective blocking, polish squad was able to control the tempo of the game from the very beginning. Spain couldn't react and the first set was inevitably in polish hands (18-25). In the second set, the history was about to be repeated but another comeback by locals avoided polish intentions; Spain won the set (27-25) thanks to the attacking actions by Pascual and Saucedo and tied the game. The third set followed the same pattern, but with teams changing roles. This time it was Spaniards who lead the game for most part of the period and Polish who reacted to end up winning the set (24-26). Spain Head Coach Francisco Hervás gave room to the bench players, and the contribution from Spanish opposites increased since this moment. This situation created big problems to polish defense -very active throughout the game. Once more, it was comeback time, and once more in the two games weekend, Spain reacted at the later stages of the set to tie the game. In the tie-break, confidence is the only thing that matters, and this time it was on Spanish side. The bigger amount of unforced errors by Poland was all it took to Spain to put the final 15-11 in the scoreboard. For the second game in the week, the disputed battle finished with Spanish victory.
