World League 2003 - Press Info

Press conference

Yugoslavia beat Netherlands 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-23) - duration 1:14
27-Jun, start time: 20:07, end time: 21:21 - Attendance: 5,515
Mr. Nico Freriks, Captain of the Dutch Team commented: "Allow me to congratulate the Team of Serbia and Montenegro. We are young and quite an inexperienced team, lacking our best players which had to stay at home for their injuries. But we played against one of the greatest teams in the world. We played with heart, agression and sometimes achieved quite a good level. For a few times we were even close to winning. However, the experience and professionalism of the Serbian and Montnegrin Team helped them win this match."
Mr. Nikola Grbic, Captain of the Serbian and Montenegrin Team, said: "Our goal was not only to enter the finals, it was to go to the top of the World League, so that is still our goal, and we have to work on it and improve what we do. We succeeded partly, but there is more. We have to think of the Finals now."
Mr. Bert Goedkoop, Head Coach of the Netherlands Team said: "The Netherlands Team played without the best players due to their injuries and without energy due to traveling in the World League. I wish all the best to the Team of Serbia and Montenegro as they have a lot of chances to enter the first three. The players have done a good job, but we have to take care of all our players if we want to win in future and prepare for the European Championships in Germany."
Mr. Veselin Vukovic, Head Coach of the Serbian and Montnegrin Team: "I am satisfied with the victory but we have to work on improving our form still and try to do our best tomorrow and in the finals. We succeeded in doing what we planned with the form and the game, but there is still much to do. We hope for the best."
