The joy was only Brazilian
Brazil pulled off a comfortable victory in three sets over Argentina at the sixth round of the Volleyball World League in the Newell's Old Boys stadium in Rosario.
Argentina's big name Milinkovic set his team on the right track in the opening stages by profiting from the lack of efficiency in the Brazilian attack, but by the middle of the set, the mistakes that caused difficulties for Argentina's "blue-white" team on Friday reappeared and the best the "cariocas" could manage was to minimize collateral damage. In the second set, the local team offered little resistance to the powerful attack of Rezende's players, who responded with effective spikes (65%). Brazil's Mauricio exploited variations in the attack, making it possible for his team to close the set without problems.
Brazil kept up the pressure and constancy and ran up another lead. Once again, Dante continued to excel in attack (6 points in the set and 14 in the match) and neither substitutions by Argentina's coach Getzelevich nor the 14 points scored by Milinkovic were enough to stop Brazil from leaving Rosario undefeated.
During the press conference, Spajic said: "We still have a lot to improve."
"In spite of our problems in reception, I think that there were many positive things in our performance, " added Getzelevich.
Dante said that playing at home as an extra responsibility for the team but casting them as favorites. The head coach Rezende said: "Winning in Argentina is always important. We still have things to improve before the World Championship."
