Brazil soon found their rhythm and counterattacked with aggression to go on and take the first set 25-23 to unsettle the visitors going into the second set. The Portuguese started making errors, while Brazil changed tactics, using Gustavo to effect in the middle and putting André Nascimento into service and attack.
