Match Descriptive

Greece beat Japan 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16) - duration 1:47
03-Aug, start time: 15:06, end time: 16:53 - Attendance: 4,045
Greece defeats Japan
Greece relinquished just one set away to Japan in a match that they ultimately won 3-1, which reflected their growing confidence and their ability to capitalize on errors by the Japanese, who with one match to go, share bottom of the ladder honors with Venezuela as the only teams to go through the World League Intercontinental Rounds luckless.
Greece took an early lead in the first set and taking advantage of errors by the home team went one up.
Good serves and spokes by Kato in the second set gave the Japanese supporters something to cheer about in the second, especially when they were able to level at one set all.
It was Greek setter Kournetas who unsettled the Japanese defense in the third set, and although Japan fought with tenacity, Greece still managed to take this set.
Powering on with overwhelmingly high spikes and blocks, the Greeks then went on to wrap up the fourth set with a commanding nine-point lead to take the match in one hour and 47 minutes.
