Match Descriptive

Russia beat Cuba 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18) - duration 1:45
19-Jul, start time: 20:40, end time: 22:25 - Attendance: 13,200
Sixth Victory for the Russian Team
The Russian Team on Friday collected its sixth victory in the 2002 World League this season when they went 3-1-up over a young Cuban side, lashing out in an aggressive first set that thrilled the 13,200 enthusiasts at the Sports City Coliseum in Havana City.
The Cubans started well with good display of servicing that unsettled the Russian team. Good work at reception and fine setting by Alain Roca and the efforts of the team's best spiker, Tomás Aldazabal, supported the attack and the home side went on to win the first set.
But the Caribbean Team lost continuity in the second set although the leading players did try to hold the attack together in the face of the Russian assault and tough defence.
It was the Russian's experience and superior height that gave them the victory, although the erratic night by Cuban Libero Ihosvany and inexperience of some of the young Cuban players also contributed.
