Young Cuban Team Scores First Victory
A reaction on the second set gave the first victory in this League to the young Cuban Team, which again had in their strong attacker Tomàs Aldazabal their leading man at the offensive.
The Caribbean Team showed a remarkable improvement in blocking and reception - factors that contributed to their goals in theri four previous games vs. Russia and The Netherlands.
Also, positive flashes at service broke the reception of Germany, whose players are taller than the Cubans and more experienced. The Germans arrived in Havana with an outstanding number of honors as to their two other European opponents.
Together with crossed attacker Tomàs Aldazabel, the vitory was also supported by center forwards Pavel Pimienta (Captain) and Odelvis Dominico, while young debutants Henry Bell and Yosleider Cala showed themselves great in their actions despite their little experience on the court.
The German Team's Technical Director - Romanian Steifan Moculesco made changes in ther regular line-up and during the fourth set he replaced setter Frank Dehne, while Andrea Bjorn distinguished among his teammates.
