Argentina moved a step forward to qualifying for the final round of the 13th Edition of the FIVB World League, with a 3 -0 victory over Poland in their second match in Intercontinental Round 2. Argentina is now second behind Brazil in Pool A, with Poland and Portugal trailing. Playing to a full stadium in San Juan, one of the host cities of the coming World Championship, Carlos Getzelevich's team, in contrast to Saturday's match, took some time to settle into the first set. They made several unforced errors in the opening stages and initially had some problems with in their attack. Poland looked more compact than in Saturday's match and this was reflected in a more closely fought match. Polish pressure forced Getzelevich to send on Maximo Torcello and Gustavo Scholtis in the second set to give his side a bit more air. Argentina finally managed to neutralize Polish pressure in the second set, which was a marathon 33-31. Argentina then turned up the heat in the third set, with strong performances by hometown player Jorge Elgueta and evergreen Marcos Milinkovic, top scorer and best player for the host country. Sebastian Swiderski won 17 points for Poland to be their top scorer in this match that went for one hour and 32 minutes.
