We made a lot of mistakes: Terzic

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic in the press conference on Friday
Serbia coach Zoran Terzic: First of all I want to congratulate the Japan team. Tonight, they played better than Serbia and this is the only reason whey Japan won. We made a lot, a lot of mistakes in service and attack. In other areas we were the same or better than Japan. In attack a little better, in blocking I think we were equal, but we made a lot of mistakes and that is the reason why we lost the match. I can't be satisfied with the way we played today but hope we can be much better tomorrow.

(Re. switching between setters) We have two good setters in (Ana) Antonijevic and (Maja) Ognjenovic and in the Grand Prix I try to give both of them a chance. Today, I started with Antonijevic, but maybe during the game it was better with Ognjenovic. From time to time one player plays better. Today, it was like this. We have two very good setters and while the Grand Prix is a very important tournament for us, it is also very good preparation for the European Championship, so we must play with all our players.

Serbia captain Maja Ognjenovic: In the first set we started badly because we made easy serves so Japan had perfect reception. So we couldn't start attacking. We took the third set and had a great chance to make it 2-2, but didn't do it. Now, we must think about the next game and try and win.

Japan coach Masayoshi Manabe: As my players said, the Serbian mistakes helped us. That was my impression, too. But our substitutes did a great job today and that's why we were able to do well today.

(Re. desire for speedy back attack): We still need more time to complete this part of our game. Our spiking and back attack are really not as good as we expected.

Japan captain Erika Araki: It's good we won, but as a team we still have a lot to do. Tomorrow, if we play this kind of game we won't be able to beat the USA, so we must think about our game.

Japan No. 12 Saori Kimura: We made quite a few mistakes in today's game; we won because of our opponents' mistakes. Tomorrow, we face the United States and we must have fewer mistakes.

Japan No. 16, Saori Sakoda: Today, as a team it was very good that we won, but personally, I made many mistakes in my serving and my attacking wasn't so good. I wasn't successful enough in my backline attacking.
