Italy coach: We want to score in any way

Italy captain, Martina Guiggi: "We are happy that we won the first official game of this season. Dominican Republic played very good, especially in attack and defense. We had to be patient, because ball didn’t want to fall down even after our strong spikes. We had to put much more force in our attacks to score.”

Italy coach, Massimo Barbolini: "I’m proud of my team. We won very tough game. Statistics don’t say to much about the situation on the court. In the key moments we put the pressure on Dominican Republic with our service and block. I expected hard match and it was hard. We always play till the end and want to score in any way.”

Dominican Republic captain, Milagros Cabral de la Cruz: "Italian team deserved congratulations, because they won an important match. We couldn’t manage with their strong service. The ball on our side was far from the net and we couldn’t use all our potential in attack.”

Dominican Republic coach, Marcos Kwiek: “Congratulation to Italian team. We have to forget this defeat and think about tomorrow’s game. I’m sure, that we can improve during this tournament. One of our strongest points is physical preparation, so we work hard during trainings and the team will recover easily to face Poland on Saturday.”
