Korean coach happy to avenge loss to Germany

German captain Christiane Furst: “First of all, I would like to congratulate the victory of the Korean team. The German team has been preparing for the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix, but the Korean team played very well today and showed persistent defense. In the fourth set, our toss was poor. However, this is only the beginning of the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix. We will be more prepared and we hope to show better performances on the court.”
Korean captain Lee Sook-Ja: “In spite of injured players and short training sessions, we are very pleased to have the victory. However, I am sorry for the Korean fans as we did not show our best performance. Tomorrow, we have a match with the Japanese team. As you know, the Japanese are very quick, so we have to focus on blocking tomorrow.”
German coach Giovanni Guidetti: “The Korean team played very well. The German team also played really hard, but Korean player No.10 Kim Yeon-Koung was outstanding. The reason for the loss is that we could not defend against her play. The German team is still weak in blocking, which we have to get over.”
Korean coach Kim Hyung-Sil: "Since we lost to the German team in the 2009 World Grand Prix, I am really pleased to have today's victory. There are many injured players in our team and we are lacking in substitute players. However, they did their best and I would like to thank them. If we show what we practiced, there will be a good result tomorrow.”
Korean player No.10 Kim Yeon-Koung: "I am very happy to achieve the victory today. We only showed 50 percent of what we practiced. Therefore, we will be more prepared to achieve victory tomorrow.”
Korean No.12 Han Song-Yi: “I am very happy to win at home. However, we still need to work on service receiving. Therefore, we will be ready for tomorrow's match.”
