Argentina captain: "An important step forward"

From the left: Martina Guiggi and Massimo Barbolini from Italy were full of respect for Argentina team (coach Horacio Bastit, players Camila Jersonsky and Emilce Sosa) after tough Saturday's game in Bydgoszcz.

Argentina captain, Emilce Sosa: "We played a good match, especially in blocking. I hope that this tournament is a good start for us and we will do better in the future. Today we made an important step forward. I like to play in Poland in front of such noisy crowd.”

Argentina coach, Horacio Bastit: „Congratulation to Italian coach, they played very good. For us it’s very hard to stay at the same level and play equal with such team as Italy, which doesn’t make too many mistakes. We knew that it would be a hard game and we had to show everything that we have trying to beat European Champion. Finally we lost, but I’m satisfied with some aspects of our play.”

Italy captain, Martina Guiggi: “My compliments to Argentina team, because it’s their first World Grand Prix appearance. Today they played great in defense, with good attitude, aggressively. We started well, but then we lost our concentration and we committed some mistakes. It was a hard match.”

Italy coach, Massimo Barbolini: “I’m full of respect for Argentina, which showed their ambitions on the court. Our today’s mistakes were forced by their good play. I’ve started this game without few of my basic players not to disvalue Argentina level, but to give a rest to the players and give a chance to the others. We have very long way ahead of us to get to the Final Round in Macau. It was my first game against Argentina in my coach career history. Very important and emotional, considering my connections to the Argentinian school of coaching. The more I’m happy and satisfied with today’s victory.”
