China see off Kazakhstan in straight sets

Kazakhstan coach Baitureyev Bakhytzhan talks to his players but he cannot help guide them to victory over China
Luohe, China, August 5, 2011 – China saw off Kazakhstan in straight sets (25-18, 25-13, 25-16) in their first match of the 2011 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix in front of their home fans in Luohe on Friday as the opening day of the 19th edition of the tournament continued.

Kazakhstan’s Olga Drobyshevskaya topped all scorers with 13 points but it wasn’t enough for her side as they easily went down to a dominant Chinese side. Ruoqi Hui scored 12 points for China.

August 5-28

China quickly took the first set thanks to their height and technical advantage as they managed to nullify the Kazakhstan spikes with a mountainous block.

The second game saw the visitors pull ahead as China began to allow mistakes to creep into their game. At one point the women in red were behind but the crowd got behind them as they went on to take a 2-0 lead.

Kazakhstan were clearly down heartened in the third as they made a number of unforced errors. China piled on the points and eventually claimed the win.

On Saturday China take on Serbia while Kazakhstan face defending champions USA.
