Japan celebrate their triumph over Chinese Taipei on Sunday
São Carlos, Brazil, August 8 – Japan scored a straight-sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-16) win over Chinese Taipei in a classic match between the two Asian sides on Saturday in Sao Carlos, Brazil.

Japanese wing spiker Saori Kimura topped the scores with 18 points while wing spiker Wu Ko Jou scored eight points for Chinese Taipei.

Japan began the game with an efficient attack and good blocks opening 16-12. Setter Takeshita played with velocity letting her spikers roam free as they took the first set.

Chinese Taipei began the second set better but Japan found their rhythm again to take the lead. The efficient Japanese serve forced a number of Taipei errors as Japan picked up the set.

Japan returned for the third set with high intensity taking an 8-1 lead. The Japanese maintained control for the entire set and closed the set in 25-16 and with that the match.

Next week both teams will play again as Japan host the Pool F against Chinese Taipei, Germany and Poland.
