Poland inflict home defeat on Chinese Taipei

Poland proved to good for Chinese Taipei as they inflicted a ninth seventh defeat for the home side
Chinese Taipei, Taipei City, August 20, 2010 - Chinese Taipei failed to pick their first victory in the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix in front of their home fans as they went down 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-9) to Poland on Friday.

The win takes Poland to a 8-1 record while Chinese Taipei slumped to their seventh defeat in a row.

The European side managed to take an early lead thanks to superior blocks and strong spikes while the hosts tried hard to keep each attack from landing easily. Chiniese Taipei struggled in making progress as Poland improved their defence.  Despite a valiant fight back fueled by the passionate home fans, they eventually went down in the first set.

However, Chinese Taipei came out stronger in the second set and put more pressure on their opponents thanks to a faster attack. However Poland adapted quickly and used their serve to keep Chinese Taipei from organizing effective attacks, spurring them to a 2-0 lead.

Poland carried increased their intensity in the third while Chinese Taipei defence began to dissolve. As Poland found their rhythm the home side imploded and eventually lost the set, and with that the match.

On Saturday Poland take on Puerto Rico while Chinese Taipei face Germany.
