China women's team and China veteran women's team reunion in Hong Kong |
Hong Kong, August 9, 2007 - As in the previous years, local fans of the China Women Volleyball were given an opportunity to watch the China Team in training at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The China Team opened their training session to more than 4000 local spectators and students commencing 2 pm. this afternoon. Excited fans watch the China Team in action for 1˝ hour with their camera ready and snapping all the time while the players did their routine exercises and run around the court. Then there was a clinic conducted by the China Team for 60 students in which the students gained valuable experience in the techniques of playing volleyball not to mention being able to come into close contact with their idols.
Then the Senior Women National Volleyball players came on the scene and they played against the students and and then against the artistes and singers of the Host Broadcaster TV Station, TVB. Of course, the veteran players won both matches. But again you could see flashlights of cameras flashing everywhere among the loud cheering of the local crowd. Though these players have retired, but the techniques were still there and the crowd was really fascinated by their agilities on the court. By 5 pm the session ended but not the excitement. The senior players were surrounded by the members of the Organizing Committee, Court and Tournament officials. Everyone wanted to talk to them, have photo taken with them and imagine even the reporters! They asked for autograph and photo with the players for their own keepsake. Everyone present on this afternoon was fully satisfied one way or the other and tomorrow, the real competition will begin at 7 pm. |
