World Grand Prix 2007 tournament in Poland: "Ready to play" |
|
|
Rzeszow, Poland, 2ns August 2007 - In the next three days (3 – 5 August) the city of Rzeszow will be the host of FIVB World Grand Prix Tournament. Four national teams of China, Russia, USA and Poland will fight for advance from their pool “C”. The official pre-tournament press conference with the head coaches, team captains and the officials was held on 2 August in the Rzeszow “Na Podpromiu” Hall. The FIVB supervisor Mr. Sandy Steel welcomed all the participants and organizers of the tournament, emphasising the exceptional atmosphere of the matches in Poland (such as the recent FIVB World League 2007 Final Round) and the ever-growing professionalism of their organization. “It’s not often, that the European, Olympic and World Champions from three continents can meet in a city of great Volleyball traditions, such as Rzeszow, to compete against each other.” – as Mr. Tadeusz Ferenc, a board member of Polish Volleyball Federation remarked.
Ping Lang (Head Coach, USA): We’re looking forward to this tournament. We’ve begun our preparations just recently and this is a good opportunity to improve our level. This is a young team, with many new, young players on board. Hopefully, we’ll have a great experience here in Rzeszow.
Zonghe Chen (Head Coach, China): We’re happy that we’re in Poland and participate in the World Grand Prix. These are four teams on a very high level and we’ll try to do our best. Our team is very young and it can make a big progress after this tournament.
Giovanni Caprara (Head Coach, Russia): We hope to play a good tournament this weekend, although we came here very tired. Moreover, two of our players are injured and this is a very strong group.
Marco Bonitta (Head Coach, Poland): This is our first competition together as a team. The three other teams are very good and it won’t be easy to succeed but we expect great support from our fans and we’ll give our best.
Robyn Ah-Mow Santos (Team Captain, USA): We’re very happy to be here. Of course our goal is to win but that’s what everybody wants. We really wanted to get here and play against the other teams.
Suhong Zhou (Team Captain, China): As you know, we have many young players in the team and this is their first Grand Prix tournament. It’s a great occasion for our exercise and we hope to get a good result.
Lioubov Shashkova “Sokolova” (Team Captain, Russia): We’re very happy that we can play in Poland, because it’s a similar culture and it’s easier for us to adopt to it. We’ll play our best.
Dorota Swieniewicz (Team Captain, Poland): For us, this tournament is another step in preparation for the European Championships. We have a week of heavy training behind us – we can feel it in our hands and legs. We want to present our best side here in Rzeszow and not disappoint our public.
