COLIMA, Mexico, June 27, 2007 - Dominican Republic and Brazil advanced to the semi finals of the Sixth Annual Women’s Pan American Cup with victories over Puerto Rico and Argentina respectively on Wednesday. Brazil will meet USA while the Dominicans will face Cuba with the four sides already qualified for the 2008 FIVB World Grand Prix. The spectacular Bethania de la Cruz scored 26 points and Cindy Rondon had 9 blocks sending the Dominican Republic to a five-set 25-17, 22-25, 25-27, 25-17, 15-7.

Rondon had 17 points, Milagros Cabral 14, Cosiris Rodriguez 12 and Annerys Vargas contributed 9 points. Eva and Aury Cruz each had 16 points for Puerto Rico and Karina Ocasio added 13.

Brazil made it to the Final Four round with a triumph in consecutive sets by scores of 25-11, 25-18, 25-19. Natalia Pereira, Ingrid Felix and Camila Monteiro led Brazil with 14, 13 and 11 points respectively and Silvana Papini added 9.
