China beats Azerbaijan 3-2

Forceful serving by #3 Yang Hao

China beats Azerbaijan 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13)

China Head Coach (Chen Zhonghe)

“It was certainly a difficult match. We had problems in receiving and serving.”

“We didn’t put much pressure on the opponents and they did well today.”

“Wang Yimei performed better than yesterday. She attacked and served well. Her great performance was a key factor which led to our victory.”

“Li Shan’s performance was of average. However, the opponent team was not familiar with her way of attacking.”

“We hope to be able to perform with our usual standard for the match against Russia. We need to work more on our blocking and receiving.”

China Team Captain (#2 Feng Kun)

“It was a tough match. Azerbaijan was strong at attacking. We still need time to develop better teamwork.”

“There is room for improvement in our serving.”

Azerbaijan Head Coach (Faig Garyev)

“It was a difficult match. China is a very strong team. We tried very hard but it’s a pity that we couldn’t win in the end.”

“I don’t think physical condition is a reason for losing the match. I think we should be more cautious in dealing with each point.”

Azerbaijan Team Captain (#4 Okasana Guliyeva)

“I think this match is very meaningful and we’ve all learnt a lot from China. It certainly helped raise our standard.”
