2006 World Grand Prix News

Brazil take the hat-trick

Russia’s captain Natalia Safronova: “The tournament went well for us and we took a big step forward.”

Russia’s head coach Giovanni Caprara: “I think we can be optimistic for the future. We now have a couple of months to prepare for the World Championships and we need to improve technically. Brazil is definitely the best team in the world.”

Brazil’s captain Fofão: “It was a great match. Both teams could have won. Brazil made the difference on a few points but Russia was very strong.”

Brazil’s head coach José Roberto Guimaraes: “Russia has changed as a team since the qualification phase and caused us some difficulties in this match. We had a chance to close out in the third set but were unable to conclude. In the fourth set we pulled away thanks to some very good blocks. We will need to take care next time we meet Russia, but I love to see matches like this one.”
