Brazil looking for repeat
Sendai,
Japan, July 11, 2005 - Defending champions Brazil will be hoping for
a repeat performance when they take on the Netherlands
on Wednesday on the opening day of the Final Round.
Brazil (who had a 8-1 win-loss record
from the Preliminary Round) beat the Netherlands (5-4) 3-1 (25-27,
25-19, 25-21, 25-17) on the final weekend of the Preliminary Round
in Taipei.
Despite undergoing many changes from their title winning
performance last year, Brazil, the number two side in the world,
looked in inspirational form during the Preliminary Round with Jaqueline Carvalho their star, top scoring with 103 points.
The
Netherlands were surprise finalists under new coach Avital Selinger,
but the world number 14 look to be heading in the right direction
and have the potential to record their best ever finish in the World
Grand Prix, which currently stands at fourth in 2003. |
