Italy win to sit on
verge of Final Round place
 Hong Kong, China, July 9, 2005 - Italy
beat the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-18) on
Saturday to record their fifth win of the World Grand
Prix on the second day's action in Hong Kong.
With one
more game to play on Sunday - against undefeated China -
Italy are in a strong position to claim one of the five
Final Round berths alongside hosts Japan.
Meanwhile in
the second match of the day, Olympic champions China
were again in awesome form, defeating Germany 3-0
(25-23, 25-15, 25-23), extinguishing any hope the
Europeans had of reaching the Final Round.
