Brazil into finals
with convincing victory over Korea
Taipei, Chinese Taipei, July 9,
2005 - Defending champions Brazil became the third team - after
China and Cuba - to join hosts Japan in the Final Round of the 2005
World Grand Prix after they collected their seventh victory of the
Preliminary Round to ensure they will finish in the top five.
Their
3-1 (25-10, 23-25, 25-12, 25-10) defeat of Korea was helped
immensely by a 23-point haul from Renata Colombo and ended the hopes
of Korea, who now have a 2-6 win-loss record in ninth spot. Olympic bronze medalists Cuba
also won on Saturday beating the Netherlands 3-0 (27-25, 25-19,
25-21) to move to a 8-0 record.
